Pioneers Shutout Jefferson

The Alfred State men's soccer team earned their first shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over Jefferson CC.  The Pioneers are now 2-2-1 on the year (2-2 Region III Division III).

Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the lone goal of the first half as he bent a shot around the keeper after getting a pass from Nick Peraino (Geneseo).

Seiyo Nakasawa (Shiga, Japan) made it 2-0 in the 61st minute when he scored his first collegiate goal.  Colby Curran (Alfred Almond) picked up the assist.  Daniel Asante (Bronx/Bronx Leadership) capped the scoring 12 minutes later when he scored his 3rd goal in the last three games.

Alfred State held a 24-11 shot advantage on the day.  Nick Smith (Arkport) made seven saves to record the shutout.

The blue & gold return to action on Wednesday when they host Jamestown CC at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium
