Volleyball Team Set to Host Alfred State Invitational

The 2012 Alfred State volleyball season will kick off on Saturday when the Lady Pioneers welcome seven teams to the annual Alfred State Invitational.  The blue & gold will begin play with a 9 a.m. contest with Baltimore City CC.

Alfred State will play in Pool A with Baltimore City, Herkimer County CC, and Butler (PA) County CC while Mohawk Valley CC, Nassau CC, Mercyhurst North East, and Jamestown CC will play in Pool B.

Pool play begins at 9 a.m. with all matches slated for best of three format.  The top two teams in each pool with advance to the semifinals which should start approximately at 4:30 p.m.  The finals will begin at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Alfred State finished the 2011 season with a 23-17 record.  In last year's Alfred State Invitational, Butler defeated Alfred 2-1 in the finals.
