Lady Pioneers Split at Jefferson

The Alfred State softball team rebounded from an opening game loss at Jefferson CC (L 10-0) to win 4-3 in the second game of the Region III Division III doubleheader.

In the second game, Reagan Ball (Hammondsport) led the way with two hits and two RBI.  Tara Scholla (Genesee Valley) and Kristen Potter (Northern Potter, PA) each collected two hits while Shelby Freligh (Auburn/Union Springs) also drove in a run.  Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) picked up the win of the mound.  She allowed just five hits and three walks in the compete game win.

In the opener, Scholla opened up the game with a hit but the Lady Pioneers couldn't must any more offense in the loss.

The blue & gold (2-14, 1-9 Region III Division III) return to action on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. road doubleheader with Monroe CC.
