Pioneer Tripped up by NCCC

The Alfred State baseball team gave up three big innings as they were swept by Niagara CCC in a Region III Division III doubleheader.  The Pioneers are now 3-16 (2-7 RIII DIII) on the season following 11-1 and 17-2 losses.

In the opener, the Thunderwolves scored six in the 3rd inning to break open a 1-0 game.  NCCC collected nine hits and took advantage of four Pioneer errors.  The Pioneers lone run of the game came in the 4th on a throwing error following a Greg Koller (Chesterland, OH) infield single.

In the nightcap, NCCC scored six in the 3rd and seven in the 5th to control the contest.  NCCC finished the day with 19 hits including five extra base hits.  Koller was 1 for 1 with a RBI single in the 1st and Ryan Hierlwimmer (Livonia) was 1 for 2 with a RBI triple in the 2nd.

The blue & gold return to action on Tuesday when they host Onondaga CC at 2 p.m. in a Region III Division II doubleheader.
