Pioneers Swept by TC3

The Alfred State baseball team dropped a heartbreaker 3-2 in 13 innings to Tompkins Cortland CC and could not recover in game two as they fell 10-0.  The Pioneers are now 3-14 (2-5 Region III Division III) on the season.

The Pioneers got on the board first in the 3rd but the Panthers tied it in the 6th.  Both teams scored in the 9th before TC3 won the game with a two-out

Garrett Hoag (Dansville) continued his solid pitching but didn't factor in the decision.  He went nine innings and allowed just one earned run on eight hits.  He walked four and struck out nine.   Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) was 1 for 4 with a RBI while Eric Mehaffy (Lisbon) drove home the other run.

In the nightcap, the Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and never looked back.  Hoag collected two of the Pioneers three hits in the contest.

The blue & gold return home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader vs. Niagara CCC.
