Lady Pioneers Squander Leads

The Alfred State softball team had two run leads in both games heading to the bottom of the 7th but Erie CC rallied in both games for walk-off victories.  The Kats won the opener 4-3 and the nightcap 8-7.

The Pioneers held a 3-1 lead heading into the final inning of game one but ECC scored the winning run with two outs to take the opener.  Reagan Ball (Hammondsport) was 2 for 3 with two doubles, Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) was 2 for 4 with a stolen base, while Athena Scavo (Hornell), Kristen Potter (Harrison Valley, PA), and Mo Parks (Avoca) all registered RBI.

In the nightcap, the Lady Kats scored three runs without recording an out in the 7th to rally to complete the sweep.  Scavo was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, Potter and Kaela Koerner (Greenville) were each 2 for 3 with a RBI, and Ball drove in two runs.

The blue & gold return to action on Thursday when they open up their 2012 home season with a 3 p.m. doubleheader vs. Penn College of Technology.
