Pioneers Finish 12th at Nationals

The Alfred State men's swimming team wrapped up the 2012 NJCAA National Championships in 12th place.  The Pioneers scored 230 points in the four-day national event held at Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, FL.

The 400 free relay team of Jake Giglio (Hornell), Josh McDowell (Wayland Cohocton), Mark Pendleton (Beacon), and Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama) finished 12th in the final event of the championships.  They touched the pad at 3:30.70.

Pendleton led the Pioneers in individual events on the final day.  He was 14th in the 1650 free in 18:30.57.  Tyler Sherwood (Elmira Southside) was 16th in the 200 back (2:17.10), Stellrecht was 18th in the 200 back (2:17.97) and 20th in the 1650 free (19:23.27).

Indian River State College won the men's competition in which 16 teams scored points.
