Pioneers Baseball Drops Opener

The Alfred State baseball team struggled to get the offense going and fell to Keystone (PA) College JV in their 2012 spring season opener.  The Giants won the opener 11-0 and the nightcap 8-3.

Eric Mehaffey (Lisbon) led the Pioneers with a four hit day.  He was 3 for 3 in the first game and 1 for 1 in the second game with two walks.  Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) was 2 for 4 with a double in game one.

The second game of the doubleheader was ended after six innings as it began to snow.

Alfred State plays again on Monday, March 12th when they begin their spring trip at Hiwassee College JV.  The doubleheader in Madisonville, TN is slated for 1 p.m. first pitch.
