Indoor Track Nationals - Day One Report

Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) and Travis Nagle (Randolph) began competition at the 2012 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at Eastern Illinois University on Friday.

Murphy finished 4th in the 800 m preliminaries to qualify for the finals on Saturday.  She ran a 2:25.60, just two seconds slower than the top finisher in the prelims.  Murphy's fastest 800 of the season is 2:23.51.

Nagle sits in 14th place after day one of the heptathlon with 2,081 points.  He ran the 60 m dash in 8.20, leapt 5.63 m in the long jump, threw the shot put 9.70 m, and recorded a jump of 1.77 in the high jump.  He continues action tomorrow by competing in the 60 m hurdles, the pole vault, and the 1,000 m.
