Witchella Named Region Athlete of the Week

Alfred State freshman basketball player Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) has been named the Region III female athlete of the week.  Witchella had a big week as the Lady Pioneers increased there winning streak to eight games.

Witchella recorded two double-doubles in the Lady Pioneers victories this week.  She scored 34 points, grabbed 26 rebounds, and blocked six shots in a win at Genesee CC and recorded 12 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks in a win vs. Jamestown CC. 

Witchella is averaging 16.8 ppg this season and 11.1 rpg in 19 games played this year.

Witchella and the Lady Pioneers (18-8) will battle Jamestown CC on Saturday in the Region III Division II semifinals.  Tip-off at Mercyhurst North East is at 3 p.m.
