Poor Shooting Hurts Pioneers

Jamestown CC was able to hold off all the comeback attempts Alfred State threw at them and held on for a 62-55 victory in a tight WNYAC contest.  The Pioneers are now 6-14 on the year and 1-6 in conference play.

The Jayhawks hit five 3-pointers in the 1st half as they held a 28-21 halftime lead.  The Pioneers cut it to 28-27 and the teams traded baskets until JCC was able to expand the lead to 10, 45-35.  Alfred had a couple opportunities in the next possessions but missed back to back front ends of 1 and 1's to allow the Jayhawks to keep the lead en route to the victory.

DaQuan Allen (Brooklyn/Boys & Girls) led the Pioneers with 11 points while Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) chipped in 10 points and six boards.  Thomas Stein (Caledonia Mumford) had 10 pionts and eight rebounds down in the post.  Alfred State shot just 5 for 28 from three-point land for the contest.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday when they host Genesee CC.  Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
