Brooks and Hunt Named Athletes of the Week

Women's basketball player Amie Brooks (Pavilion) and wrestler Justin Hunt (Ripley) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office. 

Brooks had a solid week in three contests for the Lady Pioneers.  She averaged 16.3 points (49 total), 3.7 rebounds (11 total) and 3.3 steals (10 total) for the week.  She started the week of with 22 points at Monroe CC, she then had 17 points and four steals vs. Niagara, and chipped in 10 points, five steals, and four rebounds vs. Mercyhurst North East.  She shot 48.7% from the field for the week and connected on seven 3-pointers.

Hunt was 4-0 as he claimed the 141 lb. weight class title at the Jamestown Open on Saturday.  He earn pins in each of his four matches (1:35, 4:02, 4:20, and 6:15 into matches).  In the championship match he defeated an opponent that he had lost to earlier in the week.  Hunt is 8-6 on the season with seven pins.
