Turner Named Region Athlete of the Week

Alfred State College sophomore football player Anthony Turner (Syracuse/Corcoran) has been named the Region III Athlete of the Week.  Turner led the Pioneers defense as they defeated Erie CC 26-20 to claim the Region III Championship.

Turner finished the contest with seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle on the day.  He was credited with two sacks (loss of 14) and four tackles for a loss (20 yards) and one forced fumble.  On the year he finishes with a team high 62 tackles and 10 sacks.

Turner shares the weekly honor with Yandell Denis from Erie CC's men's basketball team.

The Region III Championship was the 1st in the history of the football program which began in 1995.
