Wrestlers Drop WNYAC Opener

The Alfred State College wrestling team led 15-13 heading into the final three matches of their WNYAC opener vs. Jamestown CC but the Jayhawks swept the final matches to earn a 29-15 victory.

Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) opened up the evening with a 1-0 victory over David DeVaughn at 149 lbs.  Jamestown took the next four matches to take a 13-3 lead but ASC rallied by starting with a forfeit win at 197 lbs. by Dondrey Sharrock (Sleepy Hollow) and a pin by Zach Race (Fulton/G Ray Bodley) in 12 seconds at heavyweight.

The lightweights (125, 133, 141) of Jamestown collected 16 points in the final three matches to give JCC the victory.

The Pioneers will head to Ursinus College (Collegeville, PA) on Saturday to compete in the Fall Brawl.  Wrestling is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
