Volleyball Reaches Quarterfinals of OCC Tournament

The Alfred State College volleyball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Onondaga CC Cara Bryant Tournament but were unable to solve Jamestown CC.  ASC finished the tournament with a 3-2 record and is now 17-12 on the year.

After registering 2-0 victories over Corning CC and SUNY Delhi on Friday night, ASC split a pair of matches on Saturday morning, defeating Jefferson CC 25-17, 25-12 and falling to Jamestown CC 20-25, 25-27.

ASC earned the #4 seed after pool play and had another shot at Jamestown.  JCC won the opening game 23-25, ASC tied it up with a 29-27 victory, and the Jayhawks won the deciding match 11-15.

Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) had 12 kills and 19 digs to earn All-Tournament team honors for the Pioneers.  Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) had 15 kills, nine digs, and five aces, Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) had 12 kills and seven blocks, and Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA) passed out 46 assists and had 16 digs and 10 kills.  Mishaya Tuttle (Campbell Savona) chipped in eight aces, Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) had 20 digs, and Brittany Hill (Corning West) added seven kills.

The Lady Pioneers return home for the first time in over two weeks on Tuesday when they host WNYAC foe Mercyhurst North East.  The match is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
