Spikers Win First Two Matches at OCC Tournament

The Alfred State College volleyball team defeated Corning CC 25-17, 25-22 and SUNY Delhi 25-23, 25-17 to open up play at the Onondaga CC Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament.

Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA) passed out 34 assists and collected five digs in the two victories while Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) recorded six kills, six blocks, and three aces.  Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) had 13 kills and eight digs, Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) finished with with 12 kills and eight digs, and Mishaya Tuttle (Campbell Savona) added nine kills, five digs, and two aces.  Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) had 19 digs and Brittany Hill (Corning West) contributed five kills.

The Pioneers are scheduled to take on Jefferson CC and Jamestown CC on Saturday morning before heading into the playoffs of the tournament.

Alfred State is now 16-10 overall on the season.
