Baseball Closes Out WNYAC Play

The Alfred State College baseball team closed out the WNYAC regular season on Sunday with 11-1 and 13-9 losses to Genesee CC.  ASC heads into the WNYAC tournament starting on Tuesday with a 2-10 record.

In the opener, GCC collected 13 hits and held the Pioneers to just six.  Dylan Dunn (Hornell) continued his hot hitting with a 2 for 4 day while Ryan Hierlwimmer (North Collins) drove home the lone run.

GCC raced out to a 10-1 lead in the nightcap before the Pioneers got the offense going and made it a ballgame.  ASC scored four in the 6th to make it 10-5 and scored five in the 7th.  Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) was 3 for 4 with a RBI, Jake Kenney (Alfred Almond) was also 3 for 4, and Garrett Hoag (Dansville) was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Dunn collected two more hits in the contest and finished 2 for 4.

Seedings for the WNYAC tournament will be announced on Monday morning with the Pioneers hitting the road for a 1st round contest.
