Pioneers Can't Solve Erie

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The Alfred State College baseball team could not solve defending Region III Division III champion Erie CC in a WNYAC doubleheader.  The Kats defeated ASC 7-1 and 11-2.

In the opener, ECC took advantage of five walks and three errors while their defense held the Pioneers to just four hits.  ASC scored their lone run of the game in the 7th, when Dylan Dunn (Hornell) scored on a wild pitch after he singled and went to third on a double by Keegan Pierce (Hornell).

In the nightcap, ASC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st but the Kats responded with three in the bottom of the 1st and three more in the 3rd to put the game out of reach.  ASC was held to seven singles in the contest.

The blue & gold (0-6) return to action on Saturday when they travel to Monroe CC for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with the Tribunes.
