Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The Alfred State College men's soccer team opened up their 2011 season with a 1-1 tie with SUNY Delhi in day one action at the East-West Showdown.

After over 60 minutes of scoreless action, Delhi got on the board with 27 minutes left in the game when a ball took a bad bounce into the net.  Keita Suzuki (Yokahama, Japan) found Dawson Peckham (Webster Schroeder) 13 minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1.

Neither team could score in the final 14 minutes or in the 20 minutes of overtime.

ASC was outshot 40 to 29 in the contest.  Nick Smith (Arkport) made 15 saves for Alfred.

The Pioneers take on Mohawk Valley CC tomorrow at Noon in day two of the East-West Showdown.  MVCC defeated Jamestown CC 3-0 in the other game of the tournament.
