Frey and Smith Named All-Region

Alfred State College sophomores JP Frey (Erie, PA) and Kevan Smith (Cicero North Syracuse) were both named 1st team All-Region selections this past weekend.  Frey and Smith helped the Pioneers to a 14-14 mark this spring.

Frey led the Pioneers with a .379 (36 for 95) batting average.  He collected eight doubles, two triples, one homer, and 15 RBI.  He also scored a team high 30 runs and stole a team high 16 bases.  He started in all 28 games mostly playing second base but played short, third, outfield, and even made two appearances on the mound.

Smith led the blue & gold with a .605 slugging percentage.  He was second on the team with a .372 batting average (32 for 86).  He collected six doubles, one triple, four homers, and a team high 30 RBI.  He started all 28 games behind the plate and caught nearly every inning of the season.  Smith threw out 13 potential base stealers.
