Votava finishes 3rd, Hewlett 4th at Multi

Megan Votava (Alfred Almond) finished 3rd at the Region III Heptathlon while Alex Hewlett (Wellsville) was 4th in the Region III Decathlon.  The pair along with Randy Kelly (Hudson Falls) competed at the two-day event at SUNY Delhi.

Votava earned 3rd place with 2,591 points.  She won the javelin with a throw of 22.25 m and the shot put with a toss of 8.37.  Her six points puts ASC in 3rd place in the Region III Championships behind Mohawk Valley CC's 14 and Herkimer CCC's 10.  Finger Lakes CC and SUNY Delhi did not score.

Hewlett scored 4,787 points to earn 4th place in the men's competition.  His highest scoring event was the 100 m where he ran a 11.4 to earn 723 points.  Kelly scored 3,966 points to earn 7th place.  The Pioneers are in 3rd place in the Region III Championship standings with 4 points behind Delhi's 18 and Herkimer's 7 but ahead of Mohawk Valley's 2.  FLCC did not score.

The rest of the Region III Championships will be contested on April 29-30 at SUNY Delhi.
