The Alfred State College lacrosse team battled tough but fell two goals short in a 16-14 loss at Niagara CCC.  The Pioneers led 6-4 after the first quarter but were outscored 10-4 in the middle quarters and couldn't recover.

Kevin Gardrvits (Glen Cove) netted four goals to pace the Pioneers while Bradley Zacher (Medina) finished with three goals and an assist.  Patrick Umphries (Heuvelton) passed out four helpers, Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) scored three times, and Kyle Davis (Cortland/Homer) and Keith Maloney (Brewster) each found the back of the net twice.  James Bratton (Canandagiua) was also credited with an assist.

Brad Stowell (Marcellus) made 26 saves in net.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday when they host #1 Onondaga CC at Pioneer Stadium.  Opening faceoff is at 4 p.m.
