Pioneers offense struggles at Erie

The Alfred State College baseball team couldn't string together much offense as they fell 5-1 and 10-2 at Erie CC on Tuesday.  The Pioneers fall to 8-7 overall on the year and 4-4 in Region III Division III play.

Andrew Alexander (LeRoy) was 2 for 3 while Dennis Dueno (Brooklyn/Bishop Ford) was 2 for 4 in the opener.  Tyler Mann (Holland Patent) allowed two earned runs in six innings of work and took the loss.  He walked two and struck out seven.

In the nightcap, ASC was held to just two hits.  JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) collected both hits finished 2 for 4 with a RBI.  Anthony Espe (Union Endicott) collected the other RBI.  Matt Gier (North Collins) allowed just one hit in 2.2 innings of work out of the pen.

The Pioneers continue their four-game series with Erie CC on Thursday.  First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. in Alfred.
