Strong 2nd and 3rd Quarter Lead Delhi Past ASC

SUNY Delhi outscored Alfred State 10-1 in the second and third quarters en route to a 16-8 victory in the Pioneers home opener.  Delhi is now 2-4 on the season while ASC falls to 0-5.

After each team found the back of the next three times in the first quarter Delhi outscored ASC 5-0 in the second and 5-1 in the 3rd to take control of the contest.  ASC held a 4-3 scoring advantage in the 4th.

Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) led the offense with three goals, an assist, and 12 groundballs.  Brad Zacher (Medina) had a goal and an assist, Kyle Davis (Cortland/Homer) finished with a goal and an assist, and Keith Maloney (Brewster) and Shawn Hanrahan (Unadilla/Unatego) each scored once.

Sean Brown led Delhi with five goals while James Varanest had three and DJ Destmone had two goals and three assists.

Brad Stowell made 23 saves in net for the Pioneers.  A combination of three Bronco goalies made 17 saves.

The blue & gold return to action on Tuesday when they host Cayuga CC at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
