Miller and Murphy Place at Indoor Nationals

David Miller (Elmira Southside) and Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) placed for Alfred State College at the 2011 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at Texas Tech University.

Miller earned 5th place in the pole vault competition.  His best vault of the day measured at 4.60 m.

Murphy set a new ASC school record in finishing 6th in the 800 m.  She improved over three seconds from her preliminary run on Friday and ran a 2:18.37.

The men's 4 x 400 relay team of Miller, Marquis Johnson-Broughton (Rochester/Edison), Brandon Lewis (Red Creek), and Isiah Whiting (Hamden, CT) set a new ASC record.  Their new standard of 3:26.70 earned the team 20th place.

In the overall standings the men's team finished 26th out of 28 that scored with four points while the women were 24th out of 29 teams that scored with three points.

The Pioneers now shift their focus to the outdoor season which begins March 18th at the Battleground Relays at Mary Washington University.
