Ten Pioneers Ready for Indoor Nationals

Ten members of the Alfred State College indoor track & field team have traveled to Lubbock, TX and Texas Tech University for the 2011 NJCAA National Championships.  Competition begins on Friday and runs all day Saturday.

On the women's side Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) will compete in the 800 m.  She will also team with Pam Breedlove (Rochester/East), Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts), and Tara Noble (Rochester/John Marshall) in the 4 x 400 relay competition.

Marcquis Johnson-Broughton (Rochester/Edison) and Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) will both compete in the 600 m while Isiah Whiting (Hamden, CT) will run in the 800 m.  Brett Harrington (Rochester/Edison) will compete in the 55 m hurdles.  The Pioneers will also have an entry in the 4 x 400 relay.

In field events, Tyree Constantine (Binghamton) will compete in the high jump and David Miller (Elmira Southside) in the pole vault.

The ten athletes representing Alfred State at the indoor nationals is the most in the past ten years.
