Lady Pioneers Fall in Semifinals

The Alfred State College women's basketball teams 2010-11 season came to an end following a 78-65 loss to #1 seed Genesee CC in the semifinals of the Region III Division II Tournament.  The Pioneers, the #4 seed, conclude the season with a 14-14 mark while the Cougars will take on #3 Mercyhurst North East in the tournament finals on Sunday.

Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) led the blue & gold with 16 points while Amie Brooks (Pavilion) chipped in 14 points and three assists.  Nuri Bey (Bronx/Evander Childs) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

ASC started off fast grabbing a 10-point early lead but GCC rallied in the second part of the half and led 36-29.  They never gave back the lead in reaching the tournament finals for the 5th straight year.
