Peet Finishes 2nd at JCC Open

Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) led the Alfred State College wrestling team with a 2nd place finish in the 149 lb. weight class of the Jamestown Open.

Peet earned a 15-0 win over Riley Sheldon (Jamestown) in his opening match and then advanced to the finals with a 13-2 victory over Jordan Dickey (Unattached).  In the finals he lost a hard fought 5-1 battle to Junior Amazan (Ithaca).  Peet improves to 22-8 on the season and has placed in four tournaments.

TJ Nelson (Somers) was 1-2 in the 197 lb. weight class.  After falling in a tough 4-3 battle versus Chris Brown (Cortland).  Nelson defeated Travis Taylor (Niagara CCC) 4-0 to advance to the consolation semifinals.  In the consolation semifinals he fell 8-2 to Shane Bartrum (Ithaca).

The Pioneers have two duals meets on the schedule in the final week of the regular season. They host Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and travel to Niagara CCC on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
