Pioneer Wrestling Opens Season at Clarion

The Alfred State College wrestling team opened up their 2010-11 campaign at the Clarion University Open.  Cody Dill (Unatego) and Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) both picked up two wins in competition.

Dill opened up competition in the 133 lb. weight class with a pin of Brain Yoo (Navy Prep).  He moved to the quarterfinals with a 7-2 decision over Tim Hubbard (Mercyhurst).  In the quarters he fell 15-8 to Shelton Mack (Pittsburgh) and fell 5-0 to Justis Flamio (Navy Prep) in a consolation match.

Peet fell 6-4 to Victor Konno (Pittsburgh) in his first match at 149 lbs.  He bounced back by pinning Nick Sewell (Washington and Jefferson) and teammate Ali Hasan.  His day came to an end following a 5-2 loss to Jamal Lyons (Mercyhurst).

Anthony Brown (Bronx/Herbert Lehman), Ali Hasan (Brooklyn/Valley Central), and Shawn Hanrahan (Unatego) all finished 1-2 on the day.

The Pioneers scheduled dual meet this week vs. Jamestown CC has been moved to Monday, Nov. 22nd.  ASC will be back in action on Friday evening when they participate in a dual match at Muskegon (MI) CC.  They will then compete in the Muskegon Tournament on Saturday.
