ASC Receives Gift of $20,000 From Donald Holzer, ’56

Dr. Terry Tucker and Donald Holzer, ’56Alfred State College recently received a gift of $20,000 from Donald Holzer, ’56, to support enrollment and educational programs in agriculture programs, including organic crop production, agronomy, sustainable land management, and soil science. “With the acquisition of our new land and facility in Groveland, we have the ability to manage some of the best soils in the area,” says ASC Dean of Arts and Sciences Dr. Terry Tucker. “Don’s gift will allow us to develop a great land laboratory.” Holzer agrees: “I’m very enthused – I can see the agriculture program being reborn through Dean Tucker’s enthusiasm and vision. The sun is beginning to shine again on agriculture at Alfred State.” This is not Holzer’s first gift to the College; in 2008, he sponsored renovation of the Holzer Soil Science Laboratory in the Agriculture Building, and in 1995 he created the Donald B. Holzer Endowed Scholarship.
