Men 4th, Women 9th, Demers and Benton Named All-Region

The Alfred State College men's cross country team remained #4 in the ninth edition of the NJCAA Division III poll while the women drop one spot to #9.

The ASC men are coming off a Regional runner-up finish this past week at the Region III Championships.  Ryan Demers (Mexico) ran to 2nd team All-Region honors with a 7th place finish of the 8k course at Finger Lakes CC.  He crossed the finish line in 29:00. 

The Lady Pioneers finished 4th at the regional championship and were led by a 1st team All-Region performance by Abbey Benton (Frewsburg).  She crossed the finish line of the 5k course in 21:03.

Region III Champion SUNY Delhi is ranked #1 on the men's side followed by Gloucester (NJ) CC and Brookdale (NJ) CC.  ASC is #4 followe by Mohawk Valley CC, Harper (IL) College, and Hudson Valley CC.

On the women's side Region III Champion Mohawk Valley CC is #1 followed by SUNY Delhi, Ocean (NJ) CC, Suffolk CC, Fashion Institute of Technology, Gloucester (NJ) CC, Broome CC, and Howard (MD) CC.

The Pioneers have this weekend off before heading to Suffolk CC to run the Sunken Meadow course in the NJCAA Division III National Championships.
