Lady Spikers Fall in WNYAC Semis

The Alfred State College volleyball team fell 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25 to Monroe CC in the WNYAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday afternoon.  ASC heads into the Region III Division III Tournament with a 24-9 overall mark.

Kelley Dumbleton (Warsaw) led the Lady Pioneers with 11 kills and 13 digs.  Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA) chipped in 15 digs, Brittany Haines (Salamanca) finished with 28 assists, nine digs, and three kills, and Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) added nine kills and four digs.  Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) chipped in six kills and five blocks.

The WNYAC Tournament hosted at the Orvis Activities Center was won by Genesee CC who defeated Monroe CC 3-0 in the finals.

Genesee CC's Austin Bishop was named Tournament MVP.  Dumbleton was named All-Tournament along with Niagara CCC's Jessica Crooks, GCC's Sarah Ward and Paige Tilert, and MCC's Jordan Bandera, Symphony Samuels, and Sarah Zelko.

Alfred State will be notified of their seeding for the Region III Division III Tournament on Sunday.  First round action of the tournament is slated for Tuesday.
