King Named Region III & NFC Player of the Week
Alfred State College sophomore football player Damion King Jr. (Detroit, MI/Madison Heights) has been named Region III male athlete of the week and the Northeast Football Conference defensive player of the week.
King was a key member of the Pioneer defense that led ASC to a 13-12 victory over Hudson Valley CC on Saturday. The victory over HVCC was the Pioneers first since 2002.
King finished the day with nine tackles (two were solo and three were for a loss of ten yards). He also forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown and intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop a scoring attempt by the Vikings.
King is the first Pioneer honored by Region III this year and the second football player to earn player of the week honors from the NFC.
King and the Pioneers begin a two game road trip on Saturday with a 1 p.m. kickoff with Lackawanna College.
