Pioneers "Think Pink"

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Alfred State College athletes have added pink to the blue & gold that they wear on the field of competition.

Pink shoelaces, pink warm-up shirts, and pink athletic tape have and will be worn by athletes throughout the month of October.

The Pioneer football team will "think pink" at their game this Saturday when they host Hudson Valley CC.  Opening kickoff is at Noon at Pioneer Stadium and fans are encouraged to wear pink along with their blue & gold.

The volleyball team will participate in the nationwide "Dig Pink" movement on Tuesday, October 19th when they take on Erie CC at 6 p.m.  The Lady Pioneers will be wearing pink uniforms, selling "Dig Pink" t-shirts, and raising funds for the Side-Out foundation.  The night will also feature a pink duck raffle and a jar war competition with the winner taking a pie to the face.

Being a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is part of the athletic department's Athletes for Social Change initiative.
