Lady Pioneers Upset FLCC

The Alfred State College women's soccer team defeated #5 Finger Lakes CC 1-0 in a hard fought battle at Pioneer Stadium.  The win, the Lady Pioneers sixth straight, improves ASC to 9-3 on the year while FLCC falls to 11-2-1.

The lone goal of the contest came with 14:12 remaining when Jenna Lynn (York) created a breakaway situation with a nice move.  She was able to slide a shot past the goaltender for the game winning goal.

ASC nearly added to their lead a few moments later when Charise Nankivell's (Hornell) shot rang off the top cross bar.  The Pioneers held a 12 to 3 shot advantage in the contest.

Mo Parks (Avoca) made one save in net to record her second shutout of the season while Kaci MacIntyre made 10 stops for FLCC.

Alfred State, 8-3 in Region III Division III play, step out of DIII play on Thursday when they take on NJCAA Division I Monroe CC in Rochester.  The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
