Demers Named National Runner of the Week

Alfred State College freshman Ryan Demers (Mexico) has been named the NJCAA Division III male runner of the week.  Demers and his teammates also kept the #2 spot in the lates NJCAA Division III poll.

Demers was the lead runner for Alfred State at the Houghton College Invitational.  He finished 25th overall finishing the 8k course in 26:47.63.  He helped the Pioneers to a 6th place team finish out of 14 teams competing.

In the national poll, ASC is ranked #2 behind SUNY Delhi.  Region III foes Hudson Valley CC is ranked #3 and Mohawk Valley CC is #4.

On the women's side, ASC is ranked #9 for the third straight week.  ASC is joined by Region III opponents, SUNY Delhi (1), Mohawk Valley CC (2), Herkimer CCC (5), Broome CC (8), and Finger Lakes CC (10).

Both the men and women have this weekend off but return to action on October 9th at the Nazareth College Invitational.
