Men’s Cross Country Wins FLCC Invite, Women 2nd

The Alfred State College men’s cross country team won their second straight invitational taking home the crown at the FLCC Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.  The women’s team finished 2^nd.

Alex Farrell (N. Tonawanda) led the Pioneers with a 3^rd place finish.  He crossed the finish line of the 8k in 29:35.  Joe Seitz (Williamsville North) finished 4^th (29:36), Frank Mastraccio (Rome Free) was 5^th (29:36), and Tyler Pettit (Mexico) was 6^th (29:55).  Ryan Demers (Mexico) rounded out the top five with a 8^th place finish (29:59).

ASC, ranked #2 in Division III of the NJCAA, scored a 26 ahead of Mohawk Valley CC’s 57 and Broome CC’s 61.  FLCC was 4^th with 88.

On the women’s side Abbey Benton (Frewsburg) raced the 5k course to a 3^rd place finish in 22:24.  Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was 6^th (23:03), Alison Hadley (Mt. Mercy) was 12^th (25:42), and Zinta Rutins (Silver Spring, MD) was 16^th (28:55).

The Lady Pioneers, ranked #9 in NJCAA Division III, scored a 55 and trailed MVCC’s 22 points.  FLCC was 3^rd with 58 and Broome did not have a full team.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday at Houghton College Invitational.
