Lady Pioneers Win 3rd Straight

The Alfred State College women’s soccer team registered their third straight victory, 4-1 over Mercyhurst North East, on Saturday afternoon as the college celebrated Homecoming 2010.  The blue & gold are now 3-1 on the year.

Ginette Cornett (Potsdam) got the Lady Pioneers on the board just under twenty minutes into the game after getting a pass from Tiffany Fox (Canisteo Greenwood).  Holli Pierce (Livonia) made it 2-0 nine minutes later after getting a freeing pass from Fox.  After a Mercyhurst North East goal, ASC regained their two goal advantage with 2:30 remaining when Jenna Lynn (York) scored after a corner kick by Makenzie Finnemore (Genesee Valley). 

Pierce added to the lead just under two minutes into the 2^nd half when she netted her second goal of the day after getting a pass from Charise Nankivell (Hornell).

Mo Parks (Avoca) made ten saves in net for the Lady Pioneers.

The blue & gold return to action on Tuesday when they take on Genesee CC.  The match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start at Pioneer Stadium.
