Pioneers Fall to Jefferson

Alfred State scored less than two minutes in to their contest versus Jefferson CC but the Cannoneers scored the next three goals en route to a 3-2 victory.  ASC is now 1-1-1 on the season.

Nana Owusu-Obeng (Yonkers/Gorton) scored just 1:53 into the game after getting a pass from Ryunosuke Sawairi (Aichi, Japan).

Jefferson sent the game into halftime tied at 1-1 with a goal by David Hovendon.  They took the lead with just under 22 minutes left when Matthew Weaver scored and added an insurance goal with 2:52 remaining when Ben Freeman found the back of the net.

ASC didn't surrender and cut the lead to 3-2 with 1:46 remaining when Steven Hickey (Rochester/Aquinas) scored after a scrum in front of the net. ASC kept the pressure on but could not get the equalizer.

The blue & gold held a 13 to 7 shot advantage.  Daniel Krajcir (Gloversville) made five saves for ASC.

Alfred State hosts Jamestown CC on Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
