Lady Spikers Finish 1-2 at Pioneer Classic

The Alfred State College volleyball team finished 1-2 in pool play of the inaugural Pioneer Classic.  The Pioneers fell 20-25, 25-23, and 10-15 to Nassau CC, defeated Finger Lakes CC 25-18 and 26-24, and dropped a three gamer to Herkimer CCC, 25-14, 23-25, 11-15.

Versus Nassau, Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg/Charles Dickerson) led the way with 10 kills and seven digs.  Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA/Altoona Area) had a team high 17 digs, Kelley Dumbleton (Warsaw/Warsaw) had 10 digs and five kills, and Brittany Haines (Salamanca/Salamanca) finished with 17 assists, five kills, and six digs.

Bush and Haines each had 10 digs in the victory over FLCC.  Haines added 18 assists and three kills.  Mishaya Tuttle (Campbell/Campbell Savona) led ASC with six kills while Kraus had five.

Kraus recorded another 10 kills in the contest versus Herkimer.  Haines finished with 21 assists and four aces while Dumbleton finished with 15 digs and six kills.

Niagara CCC went on to defeat Herkimer CCC in the final to claim the tournament championship.

The Pioneers travel to Genesee CC on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest with the Lady Cougars.
