Alfred State Releases 2010 Football Schedule

Submitted by WelkerPM on Thu, 06/24/2010 - 10:03am

The 2010 Alfred State College football schedule features some new opponents as the Pioneers look to improve on their 5-5 season in 2009.  The blue & gold will take on four opponents for the first time in the history of the program.

After a scrimmage with Alfred University, the Pioneers will open up the regular season with a 11 a.m. contest with the Apprentice School (Newport News, VA).  This will mark the first meeting between the two schools.

The Pioneers travel to Hartwick College on Sept. 12 before opening up NFC play with a homecoming battle with Erie CC (Sept. 18).  The football game will cap a full day of activities with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

On Sept. 27th, ASC takes the road for the first time with a Monday afternoon contest at Buffalo State JV.  The newest member of the NFC, ASA Institute, visit Pioneer Stadium on Oct. 2 followed by a road trip to the University of Rochester JV on Oct. 10.

The Pioneers head into the second half of the season with four straight NFC contests.  Hudson Valley travels to Alfred on Oct. 16 followed by road games at Lackawanna (Oct. 23) and Dean (Oct. 30).  ASC wraps up the 2010 season with their longest trip of the season to take on Louisburg (Louisburg, NC) on Nov. 13th.

Head Coach Mick Caba will enter his 10th season and will be looking to get to the 50-win plateau during his tenure at Alfred State.  Caba has a 45-54 mark in his first nine years at ASC.
