Foundation Drive Dedicated
Members of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., Wellsville town and highway officials, family members, and Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson were on hand recently to dedicate Foundation Drive in the Village of Wellsville in memory of the late James Sawyer, a dedicated Ed Foundation Board member and staunch supporter of Alfred State College. Sawyer, whose name “Foundation Drive” was chosen in a “name the road” (in the Meservey Hill subdivision) contest, died in 2005 while the first house on that street was being built. Pictured here, l-r: Charles Button, secretary/treasurer of the Ed Foundation; Sandy Sawyer (wife of the late James Sawyer) and Patrick Sawyer (James’ son); Darwin Fanton, Wellsville town supervisor; Anderson; Dean Arnold, Wellsville highway superintendent; and Jim Locker, Educational Foundation president. Also in attendance at the event: ASC staffers Deborah Goodrich and David Haggstrom; Ed Foundation Board members Ellen Ehrig, George Goetschius, Geralyn Gough, Julie Hart, Daniel Whitford, and Mary Fagan.
