The Alfred State College softball team fell to Genesee CC, 8-4 & 16-8, in a WNYAC doubleheader on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers fall to 8-10 overall and 5-6 in Region III Division II play.

GCC jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings and held off the Pioneers attempts of a rally.  Jackie Dresser (South Seneca) led the team with a 2 for 4, 2 RBI day.  She collected two doubles on the day.

In the nightcap, Genesee broke a 8-8 tie with two runs in the 5th and put the game out of reach with six runs in the 6th.  Charise Nankivell (Hornell) led the blue & gold with a 3 for 4, 3 RBI day while Natalie Sylvester (Perry) was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Amanda Graham (Elmira Southside) and Sam Smithgall (Perry) were each 2 for 3 while Dresser and Kate Bailey (West Valley) were 2 for 4.  ASC collected 15 hits in the game but was slowed down by six fielding errors.

ASC looks to bounce back on Saturday when they host Mercyhurst North East in another WNYAC doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
