Hornets Rally Past Pioneers

Broome rallied from a 7-3 deficit to down Alfred State 15-12 in a Region III lacrosse contest on Thursday afternoon.  The Pioneers fall to 1-6 on the season.

Alfred built a 7-3 lead with 7:22 remaining in the 2nd quarter when the game was delayed for nearly and hour due to lightning in the area.  After the delay, the Hornets chipped back into the game and tied it at 9-9 heading into the final quarter.  In the 4th, BCC broke a 10-10 with five out the games next six goals.

Chase Bailey (Corning West) led the Pioneers with six goals and an assist while Ryan Speciale (Corning West) added two goals and an assist.  James Moss (Hilton) had a goal and two assists, Tyler Baird (Corning West) had two goals, and Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) had a goal and an assist.

Jon Shumway (Oneonta) made eight saves in net wihile Kevin Conzola made 11 for the Hornets.  BCC held a 38 to 27 shot advantage.

ASC will look to get back on track on Saturday when they continue their homestand with a 1 p.m. contest with Mercyhurst North East.
