Pioneers Fall to Herkimer

The Alfred State College lacrosse team came out of the gate slow and was never able to fully recover and fell to #6 Herkimer CCC 21-11 in their 2010 home opener.  ASC falls to 1-3 (1-1 Region III) on the season while HCCC improves to 3-0.

Ryan Speciale (Corning West) led the Pioneers with three goals and two assists while Chase Bailey (Corning West) also finished with a hat trick.  James Moss (Hilton) and James Battaglini (Vestal) each tallied two goals while Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) had a goal and assist.  Tyler Baird (Corning West) and Troy Johnson (Hilton) each passed out an assist.

Andy Jamieson led the Generals attack with seven goals and five assists while Matt Thompson finished with seven goals.  HCCC jumped out to a 6-2 lead after a quarter and led 11-6 at halftime.

The Pioneers hit the road next week for two road contests.  The first match will be at  7 p.m. on Wednesday at Genesee CC followed by a 1 p.m. contest at SUNY Delhi (4/3) on Saturday.
