Ninety-five participants recently attended the first annual Renewable Energy and Conservation Methods Information night, sponsored jointly by Alfred State College and Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES. The three-hour session featured a lineup of professionals within the renewable energy fields of PV (solar electric), wind energy, solar thermal, geothermal, and energy conservation and weatherization, speaking on the basic terminology and considerations homeowners and business owners need to know. The speakers also fielded questions and demonstrated system components. Alfred State College faculty members Jeff Stevens and Glenn Brubaker served as panelists, presenting on energy awareness and assessment and small wind, respectively. Six ASC electrical construction and maintenance electrician program students manned the tabletop presentations and interacted with program participants.
