Submitted by WelkerPM on Thu, 02/04/2010 - 5:21pm

Rod Streater (Burlington, NJ) has been enrolled at Temple University since January but made it official that he was a member of the Owl football team on Wednesday during the national signing day.  Streater is one of 27 players to sign a national letter of intent with Temple.

Streater (6-4/185 lbs.) was a two-sport athlete (football & track & field) during his time at Alfred State.  He caught 24 passes for 539 yards and six touchdowns during the 2009 season after moving from the safety position.  In 2008, he recorded 20 tackles and picked off two passes.

Competing in outdoor track & field, Streater earned All-Region III 1st team honors and 1st team NJCAA All-American honors in the high jump.

Temple is coming off the program's best season since 1979.  The Owls, coached by Al Golden, finished 2009 with a 9-4 record and played in their first bowl game, the EagleBank Bowl, in the last 30 years.

Streater selected Temple over Rutgers and Syracuse.
