Wrestlers Can't Overcome Forfeits

The Alfred State College wrestling team couldn't overcome two forfeits and fell 30-17 to Jamestown CC in a WNYAC dual on Wednesday.  The Pioneers are now 1-3-1 overall on the season and 1-2-1 in WNYAC action.

After a forfeit at 157, Cody Lansberry (Kendall) downed Chris Chapek 4-0 at 157 before Dan Steiger (Miller Place) won 6-4 over Max Murray at 165 to even up the match at 6-6.  The Jayhawks opened up a 18-point lead with three consecutive pins at 184,197, and heavyweight.

Cody Dill (Unatego) cut it to 24-10 with a 12-3 victory over Victor Guariello at 125.  After their 2nd forfeit of the night, ASC went on to win the final two matches.  Eric Shedden (Canton, PA) earned a 6-1 victory over Jon Bernard at 141 while Darren Whittall (Lockport) closed out the evening with a 9-5 victory over Joe Goyette at 149.

The Pioneers will next hit the mat on Saturday when they travel to the Jamestown Open.
