Dr. John 0. Hunter, former president of Alfred State College (1986-93), returned to campus in late October for the ERGO Fall Poetry Reading. Hunter, who spent the summer in Scotland studying poet Robert Burns, recited a Burns poem and several poems by students at the Red Cloud Indian School in South Dakota. A dozen or more students read their own work at the event which celebrates over 40 years of ERGO, the college’s student literary magazine. The semi-annual reading, co-sponsored by the English and Humanities Department, was held in the Allegany Room on the Alfred campus. Music was provided by Moe Kajikawa, a senior liberal arts and sciences: social science major.
