Lady Pioneer Runners Finish 5th at Nationals

The Alfred State College women's cross country team entered the NJCAA Division III National Championships ranked #5 in the national poll and raced to a 5th place finish.  The Lady Pioneers scored a 141.

Carey Crooker (Addsion) was the top finisher for ASC.  She finished the 5k course at Finger Lakes CC in 21:10 to earn 8th place.  Abby Benton (Frewsburg) finished 24th (22:06), Bridget McMahon (Avoca) was 25th (22:07), Laura Babcock (Wellsville) was 33rd (22:30), Allynne O'Hearn (Pelham, NH) was 53rd (23:40), and Maria Wilson (Addison) was 56th (23:51).

Ocean (NJ) CC won the National Championship with 73 points followed by Region III schools Mohawk Valley CC (96), Broome CC (107), SUNY Delhi (108), and ASC.  Harper (IL) College was 6th (193), Suffolk (NJ) CC was 7th (199), College of DuPage (IL) was 8th (229), Herkimer CCC was 9th (242), and Erie CC was 10th (251).

115 athletes completed the race representing 23 colleges. 

This is the second straight year that the Lady Pioneers finished 5th in the country.
